Real Estate Reception

About a career in Reception​

​

Reception is often the starting point for many people entering the property industry. You will be  dealing with enquiries,  answering/directing calls, admin,  as well as supporting  the sales and property management teams.  You will be the first point of contact for clients visiting the office and you will assist with incoming sales/rental enquiries.

 

Key Info
 

  • Typical days of work:  Monday to Friday. 
    Saturday receptionist work is often done by a different person

  • Salary:  $55,000 -$65,000 + Super

  • Perks:   Great entry into real estate, dealing with customers and being the first point of contact.

Reception

Administration (Sales & Rental)

About a career as an Administrator (Sales or Rentals)​

​

If you have great administration skills, consider a move in to Real Estate Administration.  This is the 'engine room' in a real estate office;  this role will see you in a behind the scenes role, handling all things admin.  Duties can include data entry, reporting, advertising creation, correspondence to clients, entering listings on to portals, ordering sign boards, general admin support to  the Property Managers/Sales teams.

Salary:  In the vicinity of $55,000 - $80,000 + Super

Perks:  Depending on the sector, you may get to administer fabulous new listings, auction campaigns and marketing

Do you have a love of numbers and figures, with great attention to detail?  An Accounts role could be ideal for you.  From Trust Accounting, Sales Trust, Owners Corporation & General Accounts, there are lots of options in this line.

Property Management Assistant

About a career as a Property Management Assistant

​

Here you will take that entry point in to Property Management.  You will require and Agents Rep Cert/Certificate IV in Property plus a current police check.  You will support a Property Manager (or a few) and here you will learn how to do entry level tasks such as maintenance, ingoing entry and condition reports & leasing.

 

Key Info

Typical days of work: Monday to Friday with a rotation of Saturdays (perhaps 1 in 3 or 4)

Salary:  In the vicinity of $50,000 - $60,000 + Super

Perks:  You won't be stuck behind a computer all day, you will be out and about doing tasks

Property Management Assistant

Leasing
(Residential)

About a career in Leasing (Residential)​

​

Leasing is an important role within Property Management; to get find a great tenant to rent a vacant (or soon to be vacant) property.   A majority of your role will be holding open for inspections, so a great sense of time management is imperative.   In most cases, you will need an Agents Rep/Cert IV in Property, plus a current police check.  Most companies require you to have a car, but you will be paid a motor vehicle allowance to cover costs.

Typical days of work: Monday to Friday with a rotation of Saturdays (perhaps 1 in 3 or 4)

Salary:  In the vicinity of $50,000 - $65,000 + Super, some agencies may pay commissions/incentives.

About a career as a Property Manager (Residential)​

​

Property managers are hired to handle the operations, maintenance, and administration of property rentals for an owner. Their work, among many other tasks, includes marketing rentals and finding renters, ensuring rental rates are competitive while covering taxes and overhead, collecting rent, and complying with rental laws.

Business Development Manager

About a career as a Business Development Manager (BDM)​

​

A business development manager is the cornerstone of a Property Management team as they  ultimately generate new business to grow the rent roll.  Seen as the 'sales' side of Property Management, a BDM prospects with builders, developers & landlords (existing and new)  to secure new properties to add to the rent roll.  Some BDM's may manage the property in the first month or so then hand over to the Property Manager

​

A Commercial Property Manager is responsible for overseeing the management of owned or leased properties including land, buildings and building equipment.   You will generally oversee a portfolio of commercial properties in the retail, office and industrial space.

This is a great entry point in to Real Estate sales where you are usually working alongside an experienced sales consultant.  A typical day will see you handling phone and email enquiry, liaising with vendors and buyers, assisting at open homes, attending building valuations and auctions.

About a career as a Property Sales Consultant​

A real estate agent is a licensed professional who represents buyers or sellers in real estate transactions.  A typical day will see you arranging real estate transactions, working with buyers and sellers and acting as their representative in negotiations. Real estate agents are compensated by way of commissions—a percentage of the property’s purchase price—so their income depends on their ability to close a deal.

About a career as an Owners Corporation (OC)  Assistant​

The entry in to becoming an OC Manager.   You will will directly assist and support an OC Manager (or several) with various tasks such as sourcing quotes for repairs/maintenance,  completing insurance claims,  prepare communications such as minutes to meetings/agendas, attending AGM's with OC Manager etc.   A strong admin background is essential for this role.
